My first date with my now fiancé, Casey Leath, happened last January. We met online and a week or so later we decided to meet up. He is from Edgewood, about an hour and a half from here, but at the time he was working for a construction company in Anna. We decided to meet at Topgolf and get dinner at Texas Roadhouse after. Topgolf went well and I really liked him. I will say I beat him at golf, and I think he was surprised by how good I was lol. After that we went to Roadhouse. We joked and called it his “early birthday dinner” because his birthday is on January 10th which was a few days later. After we ate, we sat in the parking lot in his truck and talked and listened to music. I remember noticing that he had a bible at the front of his truck so that was a good sign. He also used his manners and opened all of the doors for me. After that I told my family how much I like him, and things went on from there.

It all started last January- my first date with the man who would become my fiancé, Casey Leath. We had met online, chatting for about a week before deciding to meet in person. I was excited and nervous, my heart thumping like a drum as I got ready. He lived in Edgewood, Texas, about an hour and a half away, but at the time, he was working for a construction company in Anna. That made it easier for us to plan our first date.
We decided on Topgolf for some friendly competition, followed by dinner at Texas Roadhouse. As soon as we met, I felt an instant connection. He had a warm smile and a confident yet kind presence. At Topgolf, we laughed as we took turns swinging for the fences. Whack! My golf ball soared through the air, and I think he was surprised by my skills! I ended up beating him, and I could tell he was impressed. After our game, we headed to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Texas Roadhouse is one of my favorites because it smells like warm bread! We joked that this was his “early birthday dinner” since his birthday was just a few days away on January 10th. The conversation flowed easily, and I found out we had a lot in common as we enjoyed our meal.
After dinner, we weren’t quite ready to go home. We sat in his big, red, F250 that was sparkling in the parking lot, with some country music playing while we sang along.
We talked about everything including sports, school, family, friends, etc., and that's when I noticed a Bible sitting in the front of his truck- a small but meaningful detail that made me feel even more connected to him. Not only was he kind and easy to talk to, but he also had very good manners. Click! He unlocked the car door for me every time, making sure to open it like a true gentleman. That night, as I drove home, I couldn’t stop smiling. The moment I walked through my front door, I told my family, “I really like him.” And from that night on, our story continued.
